Many organizations have the need for temporary or “ad hoc” networks that have to be flexible and highly mobile. Rather than stringing cables and placing hubs in temporary locations a wireless network can be set up and broken down very rapidly. Also more and more companies are no longer willing to pay for a networking infrastructure in a leased facility that becomes the landlord’s property if they grow and have to move. |

In many situations traditional cabling is very costly due to firewalls or older buildings with solid walls. A wireless computer can be moved at will to any location within the building without running additional cables. In another situation a company may have an outside sales force equipped with laptops. These people are automatically connected the moment they step into the building. Wireless networks have greatly improved in speed (up to 54 MBS) and distances that can be bridged. A wireless building to building solution is significantly cheaper than a fiber optics connection. |
